Lark Ringsted
(Denmark/Brazil) – Communications Manager
Lark, a Danish resident of Brazil who is fluent in Danish, English, Portuguese and Spanish, will be the communications manager for the expedition, handling communications to and from the team and linking the PR and sustainability project to and from Denmark and South America.
She is a corporate coach and life coach, who facilitates workshops and seminars on leadership awareness and teambuilding worldwide. She is also a professional musician, playing percussion, and has travelled the World alongside acclaimed international artists.

Marc De Keyser
(Belgium) – Meteorological Advisor
Marc will be providing the team with unmatched daily weather forecasts, in particular detailing local wind conditions and speeds, which can vary greatly over just a few kilometres, thereby enabling the team to search for optimum wind conditions.
Marc's company - Worldwideweatherforexpeditions - provides detailed weather forecasts for all different kinds of expeditions all over the World. They are specialised "routeurs" for big ocean sailing races and have supported a number of kite based expeditions in Greenland and Antarctica.

Pooran Desai OBE, HonFRIBA
(UK) - One Planet Living Advisor
Pooran is co-founder, with Sue Riddlestone, of international environmental organization and expedition partners BioRegional Development Group.
Having studied at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, he has initiated BioRegional projects in sustainable forestry, farming, recycling and eco-housing, including the BedZED eco-village in south London where he lives and works. Pooran heads up BioRegional’s One Planet Communities initiative and led the team which created the One Planet Sustainability Action Plan for Masdar City, the zero carbon zero waste car-free city for 50,000 people being constructed in Abu Dhabi in the UAE.
He is also Sustainability Director of BioRegional Quintain Ltd, a special sustainable property development company in the UK.

Dr Sebastian Mernild
(Denmark/USA) – Ice Science Advisor
Sebastian, a Masters and PHD degree holder in climate change, glaciology and hydrology from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, is presently the Climate and Polar Scientist (Post Doc) at the International Arctic Research Centre in the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
He works with climate change in Greenland and the effect on
the ice cap related to mass change and freshwater runoff. In addition, he
works with remote sensing and 'state of the art' snow and glacier modeling
tools, modeling the ice sheet in past, present, and future time
perspectives.
He has communicated his interest and knowledge about climate change and
its effect on snow, ice, and hydrological conditions in the Arctic region
in international scientific journals, in newspapers and on radio shows. In May 2009, he will become the first scientist in history to address the entire Danish Parliament on climate change.

Mike Gill
(Canada) - Arctic Bio-Diversity Advisor
Mike is currently Chairman of the Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Programme (CBMP), an Arctic Council Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) working group program led by Canada.
The CBMP is an international network of scientists and local resource users working together to improve detection, understanding, reporting and response to important trends and pressures on the Arctic’s living resources.
The CBMP has over 60 global partners to date. Mike has extensive experience designing and implementing Arctic research and monitoring programs in both Canada and Sweden.

Ariane Burgess
(USA) – Eco-Social Design Advisor
Ariane is the founder and training team member of Regenerative Culture - a New York based organisation that educates and trains communities internationally in community resilience, regenerative practices. and self-reliance in response to climate change, rapid resource depletion and economic crisis.
She holds a Gaia University Masters of Science degree with a focus in regenerative eco-social design and leadership, together with qualifications in permaculture design, ecovillage design and co-active leadership.
Ariane is a guest facilitator with Spirit in Education Movement, Thailand and Findhorn Foundation, Scotland where she facilitates community resilience training programs including water and soil management programmes, and is a co-founder of New York Climate Change Action Group.
She has developed four overlapping areas of research, from which she writes, speaks and educates: regenerative culture, creating contexts for humans to reconnect with nature, cross-cultural facilitation and intimacy, and leadership.

Rick Vance
(USA/UAE) Sustainability Consultant
Rick is currently Sustainability Consultant for the Middle East Centre for Sustainable Development (MECSD) in Dubai. He consults on a range of green projects including hotels, high-rise residential/commercial buildings and community developments.
In addition, he is working with MECSD to establish corporate and product carbon management policies.
Rick graduated from the University of Arkansas – Little Rock with an honors degree in Construction Management. He is a member of the Arkansas Chapter of the USGBC and the US Construction Management Honors Society- Sigma Lambda Chi. As a project manager for the Clinton Foundation, Rick collaborated in the achievement of a Platinum Rating from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) for the Clinton Presidential Library.

Pete Milne
(UK/UAE) – Education/Schools Advisor
Pete Milne is currently Science Coordinator at Jumeirah English Speaking School in Dubai, where he has developed whole school environmental awareness campaigns and supported local projects in the UAE. He has previously worked in Malaysia and UK, initiating and promoting environmental education, field study trips and residential programmes for Primary school children. His present initiative is an Environmental Education and Residential Centre in the UAE, which will offer unique environment programmes for school children from all over the Gulf.
Pete will be coordinating our schools awareness programme, UAE and Worldwide.
