Preparation and Training
Adrian and Devon started planning the expedition in December 2007 on their South Pole trip, thus 18 months intense preparation has gone into the journey. Derek, a good friend of Devon and an expert kite skier, came on board in summer 2008.
Training is largely an individual thing, with Devon and Derek living in Northern Canada and Adrian a far cry away in the deserts of the UAE, but the team got together in the Yukon in March 2009 for kit testing, training, equipment preparation and team alignment.

Aside from the extreme fitness regimes of running, cycling, weight training, hiking, climbing, and suchlike, training is geared to specialist polar travel. That is tire or pulk pulling for 3-5 hours every other day and intensive skiing/kiting practise.
